I hope Gordon Beckham likes fried chicken, bar-b-que and Alabama football because he's on his way to Birmingham to play shortstop for the double A Birmingham Barons.  Figuring that, you wonder what the organizational plan might be with Alexi Ramirez entrenched for the big club.  Unless the plan might be to eventually move the Missile to centerfield.

I don't think that this move was unexpected, but I think some in the media who jumped on the Beckham bandwagon early are probably a little disappointed.

Needless to say, we saw in spring training a glimpse of what is yet to come from this young man.  We look forward to seeing him again.
