Favre Retired "For Now"

The other day, after the Jets released him and he became a free agent, Brett Farve issued a statement.  "For now" he said, "I am retired."

For now.

Does anyone believe that he'll stay that way?  What Favre would like more than anything is to end his hall of fame career beating up on his former team, the Green Bay Packers.  Favre believes he'd still be a Packer if it wasn't for Ted Thompson, who stood up to Favre by not playing his silly, annual game of "Packers held hostage."

Farve would love the opportunity to play for his good buddy Brad Childress in Minnesota.  Sure, Favre's eroding skills were on display last year in New York, but that was not really a situation of Favre's choosing.  Favre really believes that with the right coach (i.e. one that lets him do whatever the hell he wants), he could lead a team to the Super Bowl.  With receivers Bernard Barrien and Percy Harvin, Farve sees some outstanding potential targets.

For the Vikings, Farve could tip the balance between an average year and a Super Bowl run.  Childress, who is on the bubble as a head coach and needs to make it back to the playoffs this season, would love to have a Farve caliber quarterback.

Is Brett Farve really, truly, done or is he just waiting until right before training camp to get his itch scratched again.  He's retired "for now", which doesn't mean he will still be later.
