White Sox April: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

The Good

  • Carlos Quentin has shown few ill affects from his season ending wrist injury of last year
  • Paul Konerko is hitting better
  • Chris Getz has delivered as promised
  • Bartolo Colon and Jose Contreras haven't been on the DL yet.
  • The Sox finally lost patience with Mike MacUseless
  • Except for his last outing, John Danks has shown he is not a fluke
  • Josh Fields defense has been a pleasant and unexpected surprise
  • The Indians are not playing well.  Neither are the Twinkies

The Bad

  • With the exception of yesterday, this team has shown little capability of coming from behind late in the game
  • The long relief corps has been less than impressive
  • Injuries have hurt the team and forced Ozzie to put round pegs in square holes.  In fact, the team's MVP the first month may be Dr. Herm.
  • Just when you want to love him, Brian Anderson does something to drive you nuts

The Ugly

  • This team has been blown out by large margins on several occasions
  • The inconsistency in the hitting is as bad as it was the last two seasons
  • Alexi Ramirez's start
  • White Sox fans showed their Cub fan side by booing Dewayne Wise during the opening game for failure to lay down a bunt.
  • Jerry Owens is still wearing a major league uniform (although we hear not for long)
