Thanks, Dad!

Former Cub Daryle Ward has a new gig as a member of the Charlotte Knights, the top White Sox minor league affiliate.  I guess it helps to have your dad as the hitting coach.

Ward, who played the last few seasons for the Cubs is a basically a slow footed marginal outfielder and above average pinch hitter who really doesn't fit on the White Sox current roster.  If Jermaine Dye, Paul Konerko or Jim Thome were to suffer some catastrophic season ending injury, he might come in handy in right or as a DH.  Ward can also play first.

Ward was most recently with Cincinnati where he was released.  He was playing for Newark of the Independent League.
