White Sox Improbable History Or Let's Go Wayback

Mr. Peabody: Peabody here.  This is my boy, Sherman.

Sherman: Where are we going today, Mr.Peabody?

Mr. Peabody: Set the wayback machine for the year 2007, Sherman.  We're going to U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago.

Sherman: Why there, Mr. Peabody?

Mr. Peabody:  We're going to enjoy the great American sport of baseball.  No sooner did Sherman put his Krispy Kreme stained fingers on the controls, the wayback machine immediately transported us to 2007 where Sherman and I sat two rows behind the Chicago White Sox dugout.

Sherman: Why is everyone booing, Mr. Peabody?

Mr. Peabody: Because this team stinks, Sherman.  They can't get big hits and they can't score runs even against the worst team in the league.

Sherman: You're right, Mr. Peabody.  We'd better get out of here before these people turn ugly.

Mr. Peabody:  Sherman was right of course and before you could say "Bring up Beckham", the wayback had transported us back two more years to 2005, just in time to see Scott Podsednik draw a walk  to lead off the eighth.

Sherman: Scotty Pods sure was an exciting player in 2005, Mr. Peabody.

Mr. Peabody: He was indeed Sherman.  Now watch Jermaine Dye.

Sherman: Wow! A single.  He moved that runner right along!

Mr. Peabody: Right you are, Sherman.  Now here comes Big Jim Thome.

Sherman: But Mr. Peabody.  Big Jim was with the Phillies in 2005.

Mr. Peabody:  Not now, Sherman.  Just watch.  Oh yea.  Put it on the board, yes.

Sherman: Wait a minute, Mr. Peabody, it's not 2005.  It's 2009.  In 2005, Scott Linebrink pitched for the Padres.  And in 2005, Bartolo Colon only weighed 350 pounds.

Mr. Peabody: You are correct Sherman.  But do you see the similarities between 2005 and 2009?

Sherman: Sure, the White Sox tie the game late, then win on a three run home run, which clinches their fourth straight win and tenth in their last thirteen games.

Mr. Peabody: Right you are, Sherman.

Sherman: Gee, Mr. Peabody, does that mean history might repeat itself in 2009?

Mr. Peabody: It might Sherman, it just might.  But there is a lot of baseball left to be played. But irregardless of how it works out for the 2009 White Sox, women will always love coming to the ball park.

Sherman: Why is that?

Mr. Peabody: Because, Sherman, everyone knows that diamonds are a girl's best friend!

Sherman: MR PEABODY!
