Quick Shots: Brett Farve, Will You Please Go Now?

  • The agent for the Elderly Hillbilly says the Hillbilly is done, he's not playing anymore, he's retired.  Yet, he went and got his shoulder scoped and if it responds and he play at full strength, he'll probably suit up for the Vikings.  Reports say he likes the Vikings because they have a shot at the Super Bowl and because they run an offense similar to the one he prefers. That's more BS from the Hillbilly.  The Vikings are the Packers most recent and maybe most hated rival and Favre wants two opportunities to shove it up Green Bay general manager Ted Thompson's backside.  I will make you this promise: As much as I loathe, despise and otherwise detest the Green Bay Packers, I will join my fellow Wisconsin residents in rooting for the Packers when they play the Vikings if Favre is indeed the Vikings quarterback.  My God, what have I just said?
  • Even the Vikings are beginning to get fed up with the Hillbilly.
  • The Hillbilly's official spokesperson says he could be throwing in two weeks. (National Football Post)
  • Josh Fields is concerned about his future with the White Sox and wants to know what the plans are.  Josh, I have a better idea.  Why don't you shorten your swing, quit striking out so damned much and make plays in the top of the ninth inning when the game is one the line.  Otherwise, it's going to sound like the courtroom scene in "A Few Good Men."
  • Baseball's draft begins tonight.  That large shadow you see looming over it isn't a total eclipse of the sun, it's just Scott Boras.
  • Say what you want about Lovie Smith or rank him in the middle among NFL coaches, but realize it wasn't too many years ago it was a lot worse.  Of course, a lot worse is now at Pitt.  (Windy City Gridiron)
  • Here's news sure to make at least three people happy.  Did you guys check with the radio alliance on this one?
  • Tony Stewart is becoming a nice story on the NASCAR circuit.  Here's a guy who was willing to leave a top team to start his own and has had tremendous success his first year.  Michael Waltrip has had his own team for a few years and he hasn't come close to what Stewart's team has done this year. Nicely played, Smoke.
  • If you are playing in the US Open, beware: Eldrick is back.
  • Something at one time was unthinkable (Big Lead)
  • Drew Carey is a dreamer.  Like a man who believes that pigs fly kind of dreamer.
  • Gee Rocky, I think our goose is cooked.
