Corey Hart Never Surrenders; Sinks White Sox

So if you're lost and on your own
You can never surrender
And if your path won't lead you home
You can never surrender
And when the night is cold and dark
You can see, you can see light
Cause no one can take away your right
To fight and never surrender
Corey Hart, Never Surrender

Well, wasn't that special.  Let's summarize shall we?:

  • The Sox got hurt on not one but two base running blunders from Scott Podsednik.  Scotty Pods we love you, but getting picked off first and oversliding second base just aren't going to cut it.  Of course, on this team, anyone who can get on twice in one game should have their number retired immediately.
  • Corey Hart's robbery of Chris Getz turned the game. So did his big hits in the sixth and seventh.  We'll add him to our list of Sox killers.  Let's just hope the Brewers don't trade him to the Twinkies.
  •  Bill Hall's spectacular force out at  second was a tremendous play and one of the reasons the Brewers keep him around..
  •  The Brewers had an unreal night on defense and perhaps a little help from your crew in blue.
  • Clayton Richard is the absolute worst pitcher in the majors at making a simple throw to first.  We heard this about him when he came up and I don't understand why more teams don't bunt on him.  The guy has the permanent yips.
  • I have no problem with Ozzie taking Richard out when he did.  I don't know if i would have gone to Dotel then, but I think overall Ozzie did the right thing.
  • Aaron Poreda looks dominating in relief.  I wonder if he's the heir apparent should Kenny move Bobby Jenks during the white flag sale.
  • Memo to Brian Anderson: Sometimes you have to play a bit deeper and realize that you are not Superman and you can't catch everything.  And dude, when you miss, you look really bad doing it.
  • Simple things like getting the ball out of your glove cleanly to start a double play are things that keep you from getting bitten in the late part of a game.
  • Ryan Braun was pretty quiet last night.  He won't be this afternoon.
  • Even if Paul Konerko plays today, he'll be at maybe 50%.  Josh Fields played a fairly inspired game at first.  You just wish he could hit.
  • Manny Parra fits the profile of a pitcher the Sox may struggle with.  Jose Contreras fits the profile of a pitcher the Brewers can use for batting practice.
  • We're getting very close to Wynonna getting her voice warmed up for this team.  They could be out of it by July 4th if something doesn't change.  Sure, there are injuries, but there is no excuse for the defense and the total lack of execution this team shows on a daily basis. That has to change, but probably won't.
  • How about that Gordon Beckham, huh?  He's really helping this team right now. This is what happens when you rush people to the majors and don't let them develop in the minors.  Told you so.
  • I think I just heard someone call the post game show and demand that the Sox start Jared Mitchell this afternoon.
