It Doesn't Matter Who You Play As Long As You Win
Rather than write 800 unnecessary words about the White Sox vs. the Cubs, I thought I'd just go back to the archives from last year.I'm so desensitized to the hype from this series, I'm even going out to dinner with a friend tonight rather than sit at home and scream at my TV. I should be home around the fourth inning to do that. But I would do that if the White Sox were playing the Cubs, the Twinkies or the Pirates.
The bottom line is, the Sox need to win two out of these three games against the Cubs. Then two out of three against Cincinnati and two out of three when they return home against the Dodgers. I don't care who they are playing, I only care that they play like they did Saturday and Sunday in Milwaukee and get back in the thick of the AL Central race.
If you are a true Sox fan (or even a Cub fan) you get this. It's not about bragging rights. They are for losers. Coffee and division championships are for closers. Wouldn't you rather be able to brag that at least your team didn't get swept out of the playoffs last year? I know I do.
It doesn't matter that it's Wrigley. It doesn't matter that it's the Cubs. It matters that the Sox win. By one run or by ten, I don't care. Just win. Right now would be a great time to start a hot streak.
Lightning Round
- Patience is beginning to pay off for The Savior.
- Dan McGrath thinks the Sox have a better chance at the playoffs than the Cubs. Please control your unbridled responses.
- Ozzie Guillen can't figure out how desperate Pablo Ozuna had apparently become.
- People wonder why Ozzie gets so mad all the time at the media. It's because they ask stupid questions like which Chicago GM would you rather work for? Is this baseball or a Barbara Walters Special for crying out loud?
- The Cheat waxes on about Scotty Pods. (South Side Sox)
- Why can't we all just get along? Are we that different? (Link via Sox and the City)
