It's Okay Stewardess. Victor Rojas Speaks Ozzie!

MLB Network went all Buehrle after the perfecto yesterday and in the content of that coverage, I think I heard the dumbest thing ever said by a studio host.

Following live coverage of Ozzie Guillen's press conference, anchor Victor Rojas turned to Dave Valle and Barry Larkin and said "What Ozzie said perfectly is that...well, you may not be able hear it, I being Hispanic I probably understand him a little better. . ."

EXCUSE ME?

Isn't that like Harold Reynolds saying after a Ricky Henderson interview "Being African American, I can figure out what Ricky is saying."

If Victor had been a middle aged white guy and made a comment about being able to understand or not understand Ozzie, people would have gone nuts and he would have immediately been branded as a racist.  With that said, him saying that because he is Hispanic and he can understand Ozzie better is a ludicrious assertion.  Certainly, if Ozzie was speaking in Spanish, I'd buy it.  But when Ozzie is speaking in Spanglish, I'll wager even money that all people, white, black, Hispanic, Asian etc, scratch their heads equally.
