Maybe We Should Have Dewayne Wise Day, Too

It's also nice to walk away with a 3-2 victory over the Yankees. Heck, it's nice to walk away with a victory against anyone these days.
To celebrate, Buehrle's perfect game buddy, Dewayne Wise, won the game in the bottom of the ninth with a walk off single. This after former Sox Nick Swisher tied the game in the top of the ninth with a home run off reliever Matt Thornton, who was playing the part of Bobby Jenks. Jenks was not in attendance last night due to a kidney stone. It must have been something he ate (and ate and ate and ate.)
It's hard to believe that we are at the end of July and this was only the fourth walk off victory for the Sox. That is a scary statistic when you think about it and makes you wonder if this team does have the kind of resiliency it takes to get to the playoffs.
With the Yankees being cut off from their Wang for the rest of the year, former Cub and Marlin Sergio Deli Mitre gets the start against the Sox. He will be opposed by Clayton Richard, who was impressive the last time out against Detroit, will have to really buckle down against a tough Yankee lineup. He'll also have to hope he doesn't get bunt on a lot, as he tends to turn that into a game of catch with Jermaine Dye.
Lightning Round
- Andrew's tribute to BA (Mouthpiece Sports via 35th Street Review)
- Just out of curiosity, has Ozzie slandered people from the Dominican and if he did, where is the weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth. It's all about how badly a group wants to read about itself in the headlines.
- Although everywhere you read, you see that Kenny Williams is done dealing. I won't believe it until after the deadline, although I will say that at this point, the chances are unlikely he pulls something off. I'd love to see him pick up Brian Banister from the Royals, but not at the cost of a decent prospect.
