D.J. vs. Goliath

I think yesterday was one of the most improbable days the White Sox have had in a long time.  To review, the Sox shipped four pitchers to San Diego for a guy who, two months ago, wanted nothing to do with the White Sox.  Of the four, one of them was supposed to start Friday night, thrusting long reliever D.J. Corrasco into that role. Oh, did we mention that the opponent had the best record in the American League?

The White Sox dodged a major bullet with the level playing field provided by the Yankees starting Sergio Deli Mitre.  Had it been Burnett or C.C. Sabathia on the mound for the Yankees, this game probably would have been over in a hurry.  But fortunately it was Deli Mitre and the Sox took advantage of him, the same way the Yankees dinged Corrasco.

Carlos Quentin had another big game with a homer (his second in his last three games) and an RBI double.  Hawk was trying to convince viewers last night that Q is the key to the team's good fortune.

The Yankees looked out of sync last night, giving up a run producing double steal in the four run seventh inning.  Ozzie is really enjoying the bottom of the order where he actually has some speed to play with.

The bullpen was pretty solid last night as Tony Pena, Octavio Dotel and Scott Linebrink allowed some anxious moments, but no runs.

What we are learning is just when it is safe to assume anything about this team, they either surprise or infuriate you.  You think it will be tough the next couple days against Burnett and Sabathia, but you never really know with these guys, do you?
