White Sox Secret Weapon Will Get Peavy Healthy In A Hurry

When Kenny Williams acquired Jake Peavy last week, there were some that snickered that Kenny was investing in damaged goods and that Peavy wasn't going to be back.  But, in pulling off his biggest and most shocking trade since the acquisition of Jim Thome for Aaron Rowand, Kenny knew that he had a secret weapon to get Peavy back on the mound quickly: Dr. Herm.

For thirty years, Herm Schneider has been the head trainer for the White Sox, coming over from the New York Yankees. The players swear by him and he's been the subject of many positive pieces in the media.  This isn't just good ol' boy Hawk hype, Herm Schneider may be the best trainer in all of baseball.

If anyone can get Jake Peavy back on the mound in a jiffy, it's Herm Schneider.

Here's a guy who over the years has helped bring Ozzie Guillen back from a potentially career ending knee injury, helped bring Robin Ventura back from that awful compound fracture in 1997, worked with Frank Thomas on his feet and wrists, supervised Jim Thome's back treatments and worked with Paul Konerko's thumb.  Oh, and let's not forget Bo Jackson. It's a challenging job, but Dr. Herm has won the respect and admiration of the players for his outstanding work.

In addition to Herm's genius, the Sox have a state of the art training facility at U.S. Commiskey Park and down in Arizona at their new Glendale facility.  While Peavy's rehab still has some time to go, if any organization can get him back on the mound sooner rather than later the Sox can do it.

If Peavy can come back early and add to an already formidable starting pitching staff the Sox may go further than anyone originally thought.

And somewhere along the line it will be thanks to Herm Schneider, trainer extraordinaire.
