Too Much, Too Little, Probably Too Late

For all of the White Sox fans who haven't given up hope yet, last night was your shining moment: A nine run attack which included a ringing Jayson Nix double and a two run bomb by Carlos Quentin.  After all, the Red Sox can't win every game, can they?

But before you come in off the ledge, realize a few things.  First, Mark Buehrle has never pitched well in New York. Maybe he'll do better at the new Yankee Stadium,  but given the way he's pitched since the perfect game, odds are not looking good.

Second, I'm sure that the Yankees are not too happy losing three of four in Chicago and will be ready for the Sox this weekend.  When you consider the Sox best chance to win a game is tonight with Buehrle and that Saturday's and Sunday's starting pitchers are TBD and Freddie Garcia, you understand why most sane people would be less than optimistic.

Even beyond the starting pitching is the issues with the bullpen.  Is there anyone out there right now besides maybe D.J. Carrasco and Matt Thornton that Ozzie can put in a game without getting an ulcer.  Octavio Dotel got smoked pretty good last night.  Tony Pena is awful.  Scott Linebrink is worse and Bobby Jenks came in with a five run lead and promptly gave up a home run to J.D, Drew.  Almost makes you miss Mike MacUseless and Bret Prinz doesn't it?  I said almost!
