Quickshots: If Tomorrow Never Comes, Dye Goes Out As A Classy Guy
- Whether Jermaine Dye is done as a member of the White Sox remains to be seen, but if he is done, he should remembered as the classy guy he was for five years. Even Ozzie says he's one of the top two players Ozzie ever managed. So, Ozzie, who is number one? My guess. Jim Thome.
- If you are a White Sox fan and you think the Sox should Jake Peavy for Cubs' hothead Carlos Zambrano, please leave your Sox gear on your front lawn so I can come by and burn it. I'll go even farther and say if you would trade Peavy for Zambrano, you are NOT a Sox fan, just a disguised Cub fan who is trying to dump your garbage at U.S. Commiskey Park.
- The White Sox rallied to win their final home game of the year. Too bad the horse is in Joliet by now. The good news is that apparently Carlos Quentin has returned from the witness protection program.
- Once again Ozzie gets mad and once again everyone overreacts. Ozzie is right. If you lose, you shouldn't just go back to the clubhouse and watch football like it never happened.
- The kids may play. But here's what makes this ironic. The Sox wait until after the home season is over so season ticket holders and paying fans won't feel cheated by seeing a bunch of kids. I wonder if Brooks Boyer made the lineup out over the weekend.
- Here's an interesting take on who to point the finger at for this season turning into a disaster. (Bleacher Report)
- Phil Rogers is still hung up on his theory that trading Swisher and Vazquez may have cost the Sox the season. Okay, Phil, I'll go there. Here's my questions to you. First, if Carlos Quentin were healthy all year, do you think Swisher's name would even come up in conversation? Second, the Braves are back in the wildcard race. Sometime this week, there will be a must win game when the Braves hand Javy the ball and he'll gag like a cheerleader trying to orally pleasure her boyfriend for the first time. Nuff said.
- If the Sox are going to contend in 2010, they will have to improve defensively. Here are some thoughts on that. My take is that Getz and Beckham will be better, A.J. will still have his issues throwing out runners, Quentin will be about the same, and Konerko and Rios will be steady. The big mysteries are the third outfielder and The Cuban Missile, who should visit a proctologist in the off season to have his head removed from his backside.
- Just when you thought Sox players had enough agony this season, they have to listen to The Chairman make a speech.
- A series many thought would be a battle for first place turns out to be as disappointing as the season for both clubs involved.
