Butkus D. Dogg's Friday Fearless Forecast Week 5

Around here in Wisconsin, everyone is cranked up for the big Monday night game. People are burning Farve jerseys. They are sticking pins in Farve voodoo dolls. They are legally changing the name of their children named Brett to Aaron or Bart. It's a zoo around here.
The fat dog says it only takes one guy to sit on Farve's neck to knock him out of the game. The fat dog should know. He's always trying to do that to me. Maybe he ought to play linebacker for the Packers.
Five college, five pro, straight up.
College
Michigan vs. Michigan State: Michigan State has hung in tough against some pretty good teams only to lose. I think with Tate Forcier not being at 100% and Michigan State hungry, this game will be a lot closer than you might expect. However, I'm not brave enough to give it to Sparty. Take Michigan.Wisconsin vs. Minnesota: Minnesota hasn't won the Paul Bunyan ax since Tim Brewster has been there. Guess what? He won't win it this year either. Take Wisconsin.
LSU vs. Georgia: LSU has relied heavily on it's defense because they can't score while Georgia has relied heavily on their offense because they can't stop anyone. This is a push come to shove game, but in the final analysis,Georgia can at least score. Take Georgia.
USC vs. California:This is a must win for both of these teams if they want to play in the BCS Championship game. The loser winds up in the Holiday Bowl or worse. The winner has a shot at the BCS and possibly the big one if everything shakes down correctly. USC did it right. Losing in September is much better than losing in October or November. Take USC
Oklahoma vs. Miami: I think Miami is a pretender, not a contender. If Va. Tech can beat them, imagine what a top team from the nation's best conference can do even without their starting quarterback. Take Oklahoma.
Pro
Detroit vs. Chicago: Now that teams know the Lions can win, surely they will take them seriously and prepare for them. Bears fans hope Comeback Cutler doesn't have to save their bacon late in the game. More important for the Bears, if the Packers can take down the Vikings Monday, they are tied for the division lead with a win going into the bye week. Take Chicago.Baltimore vs. New England: This is one of the better early season matchups. The Patriots aren't your daddy's Patriots and Tom Brady is playing like Superman after the kryptonite. Baltimore has Joe Flacco on offense and Ray Lewis on defense and is playing lights out. Still, in a big game, it's hard to pick against a Bill Belichick coached team. Take New England.
NY J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets vs. New Orleans: Who would have thunk that this game would be a terrific early season matchup? It's the much ballyhooed Jets defense against the Saints offense. Drew Brees has had a great year and finally has an effective running game to support him In addition, Gregg Williams' defense has been pretty awesome, making the Saints a complete team for possibly the first time ever. The Saints have so much offense, even if Rex Ryan lines 10 guys up in the box, Drew Brees can still chuck the rock. If I were Rex, i would ask my Dad if I could borrow the game film from December 2, 1985 because that's who Brees and the Saints remind me of offensively. Matt Sanchez has done a great job for New York, but I think this is the week they get beat. Take New Orleans.
San Diego vs. Pittsburgh: The Sunday night game features two teams desperate for a big win. The Steelers lost in the waning moments of their games against Chicago and Cincinnati while the Chargers have had problems without LT. I think this is the week the Steelers finally get back on track. That is if James Harrison decides to show this week to torment Phillip Rivers. Take Pittsburgh.
Green Bay vs. Minnesota: This grudge match is not being played in Green Bay, so it's not going to be nearly as emotional as you would think for the Packers without the rabid Packer fans screaming for Brett Farve's head on every down. More important that revenge against the Elderly Hillbilly, Green Bay needs this game to tie the Vikings for the North Division lead. The Farve factor is a huge fan deal, but players don't really notice. Minnesota has a solid running game with Adrian Peterson and Farve is always a factor late in the game (see highlights from last week.) The heart likes the Packers who were jerked around by Farve and deserved better, but the head says the Packers defense is still a work in progress and Minnesota has too many weapons to be stopped. Take Minnesota.
