It's been a long, frustrating year for Chicago White Sox fans.  A team as close as two games out in the middle of August forgot how to win, starting a plunge into darkness that will cause them to finish in third place and under .500 for only the second time in this decade.

But wait.  Despite the sheet that been pulled over their heads, there is the faint sound of a heartbeat.  Wait!  Decent starting pitching deep into the game.  Wait! Timely hitting!  Wait.  Great defense.  Just kidding.  And suddenly, this wretched team of underachieving millionaires has put the Tigers behind the eight ball.

Suddenly, the Sox look like champions and the Tigers look like chumps.

Where the hell have you guys been all year?

It just kills you to realize that these guys had the stuff but couldn't put it together.  And, beginning this afternoon, we start a long, five month slumber with no baseball, just questions.  And hopes for 2010.  Until these guys dash them again.
