National Pundits Make Farve, Not Vikings The Story

If you didn't see the game, they made it sound like Farve took the entire team on his back and carried them across the finish line. Yes, the Hillbilly had a good game last night, but he had lots of help. Most of it came from his former team.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who early in the game was as dazzling as Farve, was sacked eight times, including one for a safety. Farve was not sacked at all. And there is the tale of the tape: The Packers got no help from their offensive line and no push from their defensive line.
Statistically, Rodgers buried Farve, with 384 yards passing, the most by an NFL quarterback in week 5. And if Rodgers could have stayed on his feet, he might have had a chance to lead the Packers to a better outcome.
The boot lickers make sure you know Farve didn't throw any interceptions. Well, I wouldn't either if I had all that time to stand in the pocket and unload the ball. The Packers secondary has several injuries not to mention they are in need of a serious tackling clinic.
The butt kissers will tell you Farve was nervous before the game. What great athlete isn't nervous before a nationally televised Monday night game? You don't think Peyton Manning or Tom Brady gets butterflies before a Sunday night game? And playing the game in front of 65,000 BFF's is a lot easier then when Farve has to return to Lambeau Field to take on Green Bay in front of a hostile (and make no mistake, the cheeseheads will be hostile) crowd.
Finally, one guy in particular, Alex Marvez makes the case that Farve embarrassed the Packers GM Ted Thompson last night. Nothing could be further from the truth. While we know that Farve is a hall of fame player, Rodgers, when he had the time, showed he's pretty special too and continuing to let him sit on the bench behind Farve was not a viable option. Besides, everyone seems to forget that had Farve been straight with Thompson from day one, chances are Thompson would have drafted Rodgers at 24 in the 2005 draft, even though he made absolutely the right call based on the information he had at that point. And that information was Farve didn't know if he was going to come back in 2006. or 07. or 08. yadda, yadda, yadda.
So, before you accept the word of a bunch of guys who continue to affix their lips to the Elderly Hillbilly's posterior, know this: If Ted Thompson were embarrassed last night, it was because he didn't provide his team with enough depth at offensive line and that his defense isn't very good and his running backs are weak. Brett Farve was not the issue.
And one more quick note: If this as good as Farve and/or the Vikings get, I guarantee you it won't be this easy when the Bears meet the Vikings. Put that in your latte, Peter King!

I think your wrong and don't really know what happened in Green Bay when Brett left. Brett can still pull plays out of the unknown where most QB's would just take the sack. He is a headline, but the Vikings have a defense and a running game that would help any quarterback, but he has the extra spark to make the game unpredictable and fun.
