Quick Shots: ESPN Killing Off Old School PBP Guys
- It's sad to see it, but the great voices of ESPN are about to go away. Ron Franklin probably is on his last deal and it won't be long before Mike Patrick will be shown the door. More Rece Davis doing PBP, that's what I'm looking forward to! (The Big Lead)
- It appears new White Sox third baseman has a sense of humor or a really smart dog.
- Another Sox killer gets traded, this time out of the American League. This is a great trade for both teams, but even better for the Brewers if Carlos Gomez can remove his head from his backside and play to his potential.
- It looks like "The Savior" is following in the footsteps of Cubs great Ryne Sandberg. Not bad if Beckham follows him to Cooperstown. The question is what about C.J. Retherford? If this guy is supposed to be the be all, end all, where will he play if he is a second baseman? Sometimes, I don't know what Sox GM Kenny Williams is thinking, which is exactly what Kenny wants.
- The sun has set on the Jermaine Dye era. Thanks JD. Where ever you wind up, they will be a better team because of you. (Bleacher Report)
- Alabama didn't just beat LSU, they beat them up.
- Just curious: If Pitt beats Cincinnati on Saturday and Florida, Alabama and Texas all get beat once, does that mean that the national championship game could be between TCU and Boise State? That would be like having a Canadian football team play in the Super Bowl.
- Ladies and gentlemen, your 2009 MVC football champions, the SIU Salukis (again.) How'd that move to NIU work out for you, Jerry Kill?
- Larry's outstanding weekly look at the baby White Sox (the booties?) (South Side Sox)
- Here's what's out there in free agency. Too bad the Sox can't afford anything.
- Attention Jim Balsillie: Why don't you steal these guys? No one will miss them. (The Big Lead)
- To the surprise of absolutely no one, the NOW gang wants the plug pulled on Tom Cable.
- In an effort to curry favor to become the next head coach of the Redskins, defensive coordinator Greg Blache demands people stop the midget bowling. What Greg doesn't realize is that the next coach of the Redskins will be some big name coach who is silly enough to believe that he can overcome the whims of the midget and actually make the Skins competitive again.
- I don't know what's more painful for Jim Nantz: Having to share the booth with Phil Simms or Nantz's divorce settlement.. Allimony is an outdated notion which needs to go away. (The Big Lead)
- And sowe bid a fond farewell to Bullwinkle J. Moose, basketball announcer. As great as he was as a player (especially at UCLA) he was annoying as an announcer. (The Big Lead)
