Want To Fix Cutler? Get In His Grill

If you don't believe me, look at Favre's accomplishments while Holmgren was in Green Bay as opposed to Mike Sherman who let Farve do whatever he wanted with no penalty.
Behind every Peyton Manning there is a Tom Moore. Behind every Joe Montana, there was a Bill Walsh. Remember some of the blowups on the sideline between Mike Ditka and Jim Harbaugh? We call that coaching and unfortunately, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler apparently receives very little of it.
Certainly, you've never seen Lovie Smith grab Cutler by his facemask and tell him to get his head out of his backside. I don't know what Pep Hamilton does during a game. And I am certain that Ron Turner doesn't provide much guidance. So, Cutler appears to be left on is own, knowing that throwing the ball into quadruple coverage has no repercussions.
Coaching, even at the NFL level is necessary. No player, no matter how many tools he brings to the table can exist without it. But if the coaching is built around x's and o's and no fear is instilled in the player, you have what you have with Cutler: An above average quarterback who lacks discipline. Good luck with that.
It's time the Bears take stock of their coaching methods and hold Jay Cutler accountable for throwing passes into traffic. If they don't (and knowing this coaching staff's track record, they won't) the Bears will continue to be a third place team.
