Butkus D. Dogg's Fearless Friday Forecast Week 18 (New Year's Eve Edition)

I wanted to get this out early considering I don't know what kind of shape I'll be in tomorrow.  In our house, the Bald Guy, Mama and Grandma will probably be in bed and snoring before it's 2010 in Nova Scotia.  Now if the Fat Dog and I can get to the liquor, we can have us a good time.  Besides, I don't know about you, but I want to spend my New Year's day watching football with the Bald Guy and Grandma.  Grandma sure loves her football.  Roll Tide, Grandma!

With that said, I was 4-1 last week with only the Bears messing me up.  That's okay.  When the Bears beat any team that has that Hillbilly quarterback, the Bald Guy is in a good mood.  In fact, he didn't try to punt me or the Fat Dog across the room during the entire first half of that game.  During the second half, the Fat Dog actually did something smart and hid under the coffee table.  I hid on Mama's lap.

On the year, I'm 103 and 46, not including the bowl games which we'll tally up next week.  I think I'm losing my butt on those.

Five pro games, straight up. It's the final week of the NFL season.  Let's finish like champions for 2009 and this decade:

Chicago at Detroit: The Bears showed a lot of sackage last week against Minnesota.  Suddenly, they looked like a decent team instead of the crappy team they had been all year.  Detroit is still crappy and the Bears, if they really want to save Lovie Smith, need a big win.  Of course, Bear fans would just assume they lose so Lovie goes away.  Unfortunately for Bears fans, the Bears will neither lose the game nor their coach. I just hope the Bald Guy punts the fat dog and not me.  Take Chicago.

New York Giants vs. Minnesota: This is one of those statement games.  The G-Men have had a disappointing year and will miss the playoffs.  The Vikings had a great start but have faded down the stretch.  The Giants would like to end the season on a high note while the Vikings seek momentum going into the playoffs.  Since this one is being played under glass, I'll go with the home team.  Take Minnesota.

Green Bay vs. Arizona:   Both of these teams are going to the big dance and could very will face each other in the first round of the playoffs.  This one will be more like a pre-season game than a regular season finale.  The Cardinals have an outside chance at a first round bye, so chances are they'll play a lot harder than the Packers who will be a wildcard no matter what.  Take Arizona.

Philadelphia vs. Dallas: This is a huge game in terms of playoff seedings.  If the Vikings lose at noon, the Eagles will have a shot at the first round bye.  If the Vikings win, the Eagles still have to win to clinch the NFC East..  The Cowboys would like nothing more than to spoil the Eagles divisional hopes.  Take Dallas

Cincinnati vs. NY J-E-T-S Jets, Jets, Jets: The Bengals are in the playoffs and the Jets need this win to get in.  The big question is will Bengals coach Marvin Lewis play this one like it counts or do a Jim Caldwell?  The Jets will certainly be ready and have no alternative but to win.  Still, I think the Bengals show up and play hard.  Take Cincinnati.
