UT's Top Choice Cutt's Out

Cutcliffe in a statement said that Duke was the best place for his family. Rumors yesterday were that the negotiations got hung up over Cuttcliffe wanting to bring in his own staff. He eluded to it in the same statement, saying that "we have the best coaching staff in the country, and are convinced that we will continue to build a successful football program that both the Duke and Durham communities will be proud of."
In an era where coaches are roundly criticized for their lack of loyalty, David Cuttcliffe deserves a gold star. It's obvious he passed up a huge payday to keep his staff in tact. Some people may call that foolish, but I call it admirable.
Former Head Coach Phillip Fulmer, who many alums would like to see get his job back said while he is not a candidate, the new football coach "should be mature and have integrity." David Cutcliffe is that in spades.
Lovie Smith, you are on the clock.
