NBC Coverage Fine by Me

Please, please, please quit whining about NBC's Olympic hockey coverage. I am sick to death of reading all of these reports where all these media critics, who probably wouldn't recognize Ryan Miller or Patrick Kane if they came up and tapped them on the shoulder, are just bitching up a storm about how the game was on cable and some couldn't get it in HD and blah, blah,.blah.  Please, just stop and listen to yourselves.

If you are a hockey fan, you are used to the games being on cable.  You get two games a week on Versus, which is not only cable, but it's not necessarily widely available.  And unless you are also a hunter or do those made up Gen-X sports, it's not a usual destination.

Then there is the "MSNBC isn't available in HD in all markets" argument.  Hokey smokes, Bullwinkle how spoiled have we become?  I watched the 1980 Miracle on Ice game in black and white for crying out loud.  In the place I live during the week,  I have a twelve inch, non HD TV.  If anyone has a right to bitch, it's me and I won't.  Why? Because I can see the entire game uninterrupted by men in tights dancing on ice or some made for TV sport that involves a snow board.  Or some sport where they have to stop and shoot at something every two minutes.

Look, covering an entire Olympics is like covering the buffet at Golden Corral: There's a lot of stuff going on and not everyone is interested in every item.  I'm getting the items I like to watch (Hockey, Curling) delivered uninterrupted every day and I couldn't be happier.  I am dumbfounded that anyone could complain about it.

Wait until 2014 and the Olympics are in Russia with a very funky time differential.  Then, you'll have something worthy to complain about?
