Do We Really Care What Tiger Does With His Putter?

I, for one, could give a rat's backside over how many women Tiger Woods has bedded. I could care less about his alleged dirty text messages to a porn star. I remain uninterested as to whether he is receiving sex rehab or not. I could care nada about his ongoing struggle to save his mariage.
Once Tiger walks off course and into the clubhouse, he's off the clock in my life. Yet millions of us can't go ten minutes without wanting to know the latest about Tiger's off the course life.
Are we men so pathetic and our self esteem so low that we want the details because we look at Tiger as some sort of hero? Are the notches in his belt a source of pride for many men who don't have the looks, the rap and the cash to be Tiger Woods? I can understand completely if wanting to be Tiger on the golf course is someone's goal. But in the bedroom? Are we that much of a loser?
Americans remain titillated by sex, which is why this is such an uptight society. It's a classic case of "those who can, do, those who can't follow Tiger." In a lot of places, Tiger's behavior wouldn't make the newspaper, let alone the front page. Yet, day after day, Americans log on to the Internet to see the latest developing story about "sext messages" or what bimbette has signed a book deal. And I have no idea why.
I would much rather watch Tiger do what he does and be the best in the world at it. That's who he is. And that's all he should ever be.
