Bear$ $ave Dollar$, Keep Hari$$

The word is that since the Bears rolled out the Brink's truck for Julius Peppers, either Alex Brown or Tommie Harris became a salary casualty.  Okay, I get that, but don't you think Harris would have been a better choice?

Brown has been a fixture at defensive end, plays every down, has a great work ethic, stays out of trouble and is a pretty good player.

Harris on the other hand should have his name changed to "the often injured" Tommie Harris.  He's a great player when he's healthy, except that he's never healthy.  And with all the surgery the guy has had, how effective can he be?  He's been rebuilt more than Steve Austin for crying out loud.

For some reason, Brown has never been a favorite of Lovie Smith.  But lining up Peppers on one side and Brown on the other would have really put some push in the Bears pass rush.  What about the kid from Arkansas, Marcus Harrison?  Or Henry Melton? Or anybody? At least they might last a whole season.  And, if attention to Peppers will free up the tackles to put pressure on the quarterback, wouldn't Harrison's game elevate to the level of his hype?

You are trading away a guy who shows up for every game and keeping a guy who gets hurt lacing up his football shoes.

I have an even better idea.  If you want to get rid of an overpriced contract from somebody who is vastly overrated, why not just fire Lovie Smith?
