Time Stood Still On White Sox Opening Day

Stop the baseball season.  End it right now.  After yesterday's near flawless performance by the Chicago White Sox, you wish the season were a game show and you could just take what you won and leave.  But there will be 161 more opportunities to watch this team play, which could be good or heartbreaking. Some quick thoughts :

  • This was the most exciting 6-0 game I ever watched.  The Sox did it all, go long, manufacture runs, take extra bases, play defense, etc.  It looked like a whole new team out there.
  • What can you say about Mark Buehrle that hasn't been said or written already?  The guy just competes the way we all want a guy on our team to compete.
  • If yesterday was an indication of what kind of season Alex Rios will have, then I say Kenny may have done good.
  • Carlos Quentin looked good running out his first inning double.  It looks like the injuries were behind him.
  • J.J. Putz looked good in the eighth.  Matt Thornton looked downright nasty in the ninth.
  • I'm not worried about Mark Teahen or Juan Pierre offensively.  It can't be everyone's day.  I just wish Pierre would play in a little more.  It looks like he could get dinked and dunked to death out there this year.
  • Cleveland is not a very good team. In fact, they could be a lot worse than the experts think.  Like KC bad.
  • The Twinkies loss to the Angels was the cherry on top of my sundae.  I'd love to go into the weekend series with them up two games and then win two out of three.  Yes, I know it's only the first week of the season and April and all, but I want to boot on their neck NOW and make them trail the Sox all year.

Lightning Round

  • If you know me or read this blog or my Facebook page at all, you know that  I disagree most of the time with the President.  But not yesterday.  Nice hat, Mr. President.
