Enough About the Bunt Already

I've been listening to the Score this morning out running some errands and I cannot believe how naive some of you so called baseball fans are.

I think Ozzie did absolutely the right thing Thursday night bunting Gordon Beckham and moving Juan Pierre over to second.  From where I come from, we call that old school.  The Dodgers used to do it back in the day and won a few championships with that approach.

When your team isn't hitting, you have to do what you have to do.  Ozzie didn't deprive Beckham of an at bat, he moved a runner into scoring position for his two best hitters. For those of you so called baseball fans that might not be aware, there is this other league call the National League, where a play like this is common.

There was no guarantee that Beckham would have got a hit in that situation.  If he hadn't, Pierre would probably still be at first.  This is what Ozzie wanted all along.  The speed and the players to bunt if he needed to.  I found it refreshing (and perhaps a little amazing) that the Sox could have pulled off a sacrifice in the first place.

Get over it, please.
