White Sox Win The Old Fashioned Way: Multiple Home Runs
All this talk of "Ozzieball" and "smallball" seems to be biting the Chicago White Sox in the backside. In six games thus far, the 2010 White Sox are 2-4, but 2-0 in games where they have hit multiple home runs. Yesterday, Paul Konerko and our beloved Savior went yard as the Sox won 5-4 to salvage a game in their series against the Twinkies.
Sure, the winning hit was a single by Andruw Jones. Sure, the Sox had to throw out the tying run at the plate to win the game in the top of the ninth. But, there is still the facts that chicks, and apparently the 2010 won-loss column digs the long ball.
The Sox, after a 2-4 homestand (where they could have just as easily been 6-0) now head to Toronto where they haven't won a game in three years. As much as you hate to think about it, they cold be 2-8 by Thursday.
Jake Peavy gets his first start on foreign soil.
It will be interesting if this team, built for speed and defense is successful on baseball's last astrorturf field.
Also, keep an eye on the Twinkies and Red Sox this afternoon at 3pm CDT on ESPN. We'll see if target Field is a launching pad. My guess is most likely.
