White Sox Sox Send Message: We're Not Dead Yet

After getting hammered by the Tampa Bay Rays 12-0 and 7-2, Chicago White Sox fans probably were afraid to wear their Sox gear in public.  Despite Ozzie Guillen continuing to insist that this was a good ballclub and that he wasn't concerned about their slow start, Sox fans were calling in to talk shows and blogging about how bad they thought this team was.  Newspapers were already trading A.J. Pierzynski and Paul Konerko for prospects.  It didn't look too good, until the White Sox caused some thunder and caught some lightning.

Friday night, a walk off homer for Andruw Jones.  Saturday, a walk off home run for Alex Rios, part of a three run bottom of the ninth that literally snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.  Yesterday, an eighth inning bomb from Konerko, breaking a two all tie and giving the Sox a 3-2 victory.

Three close games and three dramatic victories later, the suddenly the Sox stand three games under the .500 mark.  Before you scoff, realize they have the same record, 8-11 as the Boston Red Sox have.  Maybe this slow start thing isn't so bad after all, as you certainly don't expect the Red Sox to be three games under at the end of the season.

The Sox will try to continue the roll tomorrow night in Texas as they meet a Ranger team that has also suffered from a slow start.  The key to the Sox success on this six game road trip is starting pitching.  Can Mark Buehrle and Jake Peavy overcome the shell shock they encountered against Tampa?  If that happens, the Sox can play with anyone, including the defending world champion Yankees, who they face Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Lightning Round
