Monday Night's Alright For Fighting
I was really surprised that during Vancouver's 5-1 drubbing of the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday night that there weren't more fights. Yes, I know it's the playoffs and fighting in the playoffs is taboo, but still, if you are down five goals in your own rink, don't you think popping someone would be a good idea?I think if I were Coach Qstache, I would dress either Ben Egar or Adam Burrish and at the first sign of being outplayed by Vancouver, go after someone to keep the crowd in it. The most exciting thing that happened Saturday was the national anthem, and once that died down, so did any chance the Hawks had of winning.
Tonight, they need to quit making poor choices with the puck and use their speed to skate around Vancouver's slower defensemen. Most important of all, help out Antti Nieme, who may still be suffering from shellshock from game one. He absolutely has to raise his game tonight.
It won't get any easier for the Hawks should they beat the Canucks in this series. San Jose is on a roll, coming from behind and beating Detroit 4-3 last night. Certainly, every playoff team gets a couple of Mulligans, but too many and you wind up like New Jersey or Washington, taking your Mulligans on the golf course, not the rink.
