Sox Survive Strassburg. Continue March Through National League
The Chicago White Sox did what I thought they would do last night: Keep the game close against all-world pitcher Stephen Strassburg, then go to work against the Nats bullpen. What I didn't figure on was how well Gavin Floyd would pitch. Unfortunately for Floyd, he was one pitch short again, giving up a two out seventh inning double to Adam Dunne.
Ironically for Strassburg, he was not the biggest star in the house. That would be the first fan, who quietly was looming in the suites.
Let's lay it down: nine of eleven, four straight, two under, 5½ out. They are coming. And, don't give me the speech about how bad the Pirates and Nats are. A win is a win is a win. Earlier this year, the Sox were having problems with the Royals and Indians and couldn't beat bad teams, so take this as improvement.
The boys are on their way. Get Beckham straightened out, prevent the Cuban Missile from swinging at bad pitches, keep the Cuban Sandwich away from McDonald's and re-break Mark Teahen's finger and I think we are on to something here.
BTW, I usually put the picture to the right, but I thought it was more appropriate to put this one to the left.
