Daniel Is Traveling Tonight On A Plane

With the injury last night to White Sox pitcher Jake Peavy (it was his back, not his arm, kids, get it right) the White Sox surely will be calling Charlotte to put Daniel Hudson a a plane to Chicago.

Hudson is having a great year for the Knights and has pitched fairly well at the MLB level in a few appearances last year.  Yes, he's no Jake Peavy, but if can give the Sox five or six quality starts while Peavy is on the shelf, the Sox are still in pretty good shape.

It should be noted that fortunately for the Sox, Hudson has not been part of a deal to procure a final piece to the Sox puzzle.  At this point, Kenny Williams will have to remove Hudson's name from the table as his presence is far more valuable to the parent club.

In addition, the Sox may send someone down to bring up another fresh arm from the farm just to get the Sox bullpen through the next couple of games.  Carlos Torres has pitched well in those situations and could get the nod.

There is also the possibility that Kenny will scour the waiver wires and find someone available who might be able to come in and pitch.  Surely, there is an ex-Royal out there somewhere he can contact.

The silver lining to last night's game is that even though the Sox lost Peavy in the second inning, the bullpen and the offense stepped up and delivered.  Good teams do this, and despite the burial the Sox received in May from several members of the media, fans and yes, even sports blogs (but not this one, damn it!) the team is still a good team and just a game out in the AL Central.
