Breaking: It's A Final: Peavy Done For 2010
In a surprise to absolutely no one, the White Sox have announced that Jake Peavy will undergo season ending surgery to reattach his lat muscle. This will be followed by months of rehab and hopefully a return to being a semi-effective major league pitcher. The Cy Young days are probably done.Anyone who had held out hope of anything less also believes in unicorns.
The next step for the Sox is to find a starter who can eat a lot of innings. At this point, Daniel Hudson will be given the opportunity to replace Peavy in the rotation.
White Sox General Manager Kenny Williams and White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen will evaluate Hudson to determine what the next step might be. The options include going with Hudson or trading for help outside of the organization. Given the state of the Sox farm system, Hudson seems to be the most viable option right now.
If you are waiting for Cliff Lee or Ted Lilly to show up, you will look like Forrest Gump at a bus stop. And if you complain about the Peavy trade, I will personally come to your house and burn your Sox gear in front of all your friends and family.
Captain Obvious, out.
