I'm Chip Ramsey a career broadcaster who has been a sports radio program director in Milwaukee and Nashville. I've covered everything from high school and college sports (including the SEC, Big Ten,
MVC and OVC) to Major League Baseball, The NFL and the NHL. I have a few things to say, and when I want to say them, I say them here.
I mostly talk about my teams, which would be the White Sox, Bears, and Blackhawks, but I do talk about other things as well. Thanks for dropping by. I hope you will bookmark this site and visit

Chip Shots: White Sox At The Trading Deadline: More Coming Or One And No Dunn?
White Sox At The Trading Deadline: More Coming Or One And No Dunn?
With the trade deadline less than twelve hours away, the developments are getting more and more interesting. Some observations based on what we've read yesterday and this morning:
Someone is dealing less than above board with Kenny Williams. You sensed that he's upset with someone and the general consensus is it's Washington GM Mike Rizzo. There's a great book by Zig Ziglar called "Zig Ziglar's Secrets of Closing the Sale." In it, he tells you how to convince the customer to make the deal. So, in this case, if you are Kenny Williams and you say to Mike Rizzo "If I can get Edwin Jackson and give you one other prospect, do we have a deal for Adam Dunn?" and Rizzo agrees, that is how you are supposed to do it. But if you call Rizzo back and he balks after you have satisfied his terms, it not only gets frustrating, but you are stuck with an asset you might no want.
The Sox are doing a great job of spinning the Jackson acquisition as if that was their only move. Even Ozzie, who didn't want any changes said ". ''It's big because losing [Jake] Peavy was bad, and we've played well
without him. And Hudson is a good kid, but we can't go to the stretch
with a kid.''
If Kenny is unable to do business with Rizzo (and at this point it looks like that is the case) can he find one other complimentary player off the radar?
Was Lucas Harrell the best choice to start last night or was he being showcased?
Do you find it mildly interesting that when Kenny was talking about his rotation, he omitted the name of Freddie Garcia, who has been perhaps the White Sox most effective pitchers this year? ''We've got him for next year to add to a rotation that includes Peavy
and Jackson surrounded by [Mark] Buehrle, [John] Danks and [Gavin]
Floyd, so it positions us for next year as well,'' Obviously Freddie may not be part of the plan, which leads you to wonder if the Sox have a fifth starter in the system somewhere.
I would love to know why Lance Berkman turned down a possible opportunity to play for the White Sox? You wonder if it was because his perception of Ozzie or Kenny or the team in general is skewed based on media reports? From everything I've seen, I would think the Sox would be a great organization to play for. Do other prized players feel this way, like maybe Adam Dunn.
Don't believe everything you readdept.: In this morning's Sun-Times there is the following quote from Ozzie with the Times editorial staff providing the explanations as to who people are.: ''Richard Dotson [Charlotte pitching coach] and [Charlotte manager]
Buddy Bell prepared this kid very well,'' manager Ozzie Guillen said.
''It was a big day for him. He went through some tough times in the
minors.'' Except Buddy Bell is the director of player development while Chris Chambliss is the manager. Ooops.
