White Sox Fade In The Clutch
Last night's game between the Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox was long over by the time Pink Gavin Floyd grooved an 0-2 curveball to Jason Kuebel in the top of the seventh inning giving the Twinkies an insurmountable 6-1 lead.
This game died on the base paths. The White Sox left twelve men on base last night and wasted opportunities with the bases juiced and no one out not once, but twice. In one sequence, the Sox had the sacks packed with Rios, Konerko and Quentin on the way to the plate, but couldn't pull the trigger.
If the Sox lose the AL Central by one game, this would be that game.
The Sox wasted a stout outing by Floyd (again). Floyd has been so snake bit this season you'd think he had his hand in a box of rattlers. Honestly. He pitches his butt off every time out there and gets absolutely no run support from his teammates. The guy is 8-9 on the year and should be more like 13-5. Floyd arguably has been the Sox best pitcher this year. Remember his duel with Stephen Strassberg? Floyd pretty much matched him, but since the Sox couldn't score, he got an ND.
The Sox need to get fat on the struggling Tigers and hope that the Twinkies stub their toe somewhere along the way. The road to winning the AL Central clearly goes through the twin cities, and the Sox seem like they are traveling in a vehicle that's leaking oil.

Lightning Round
- After the game, the White Sox sent the Cuban Sandwich back to Charlotte. I think the Sandwich played well in his first shot at the majors, although I think once teams got a book on him he was less effective. He also needs to work on his defense. See you in September, big boy.
- And speaking of needing to work on their defense, please welcome back Mark Teahen. Although, I sense that Teahen might be the spark that reignites the fire. We'll see.
