White Sox: Don't Dream It's Over, It Is

I hate writing this every year, but most years I have to.  By the power invested in me as a Chicago White Sox fan, I declare the Chicago White Sox legally dead in 2010.  You may stick a fork in them now.

I do not believe that the White Sox have enough games left to catch the Twins, even though they have a tragic number of 18.  5½ games out at this point with the Twins facing the Indians and then the Sox is too much for this team to overcome.

The play that ended the season came with one out in the second inning and a man on first.  John Danks forced an inning ending double play, which Mark Teahen promptly butchered.  Game. Set Match. Danks then issued a walk and a two run single putting the Tigers up 2-1.  That's all they needed, winning 5-1.  Mark Teahen was awarded the Tigers MVP for last night's game.

You can say whatever you want in defense of Teahen, but I'm sorry.  Every play in every game is important and there is no excuse for a big league ball player to make an error like that.  Teahen's comment after the game "What are you going to do.?"  HOW ABOUT MAKING THE FREAKIN PLAY, NOZZLE?

The injuries have finally caught up with the Sox.  Losing Gordon Beckham was the straw that broke the camel's back.  I would rather Ozzie take his chances with Brent Lillibridge at second base ot Brent Morel at third than watch Teahen botch routine plays.  Or, the slow footed Cuban Sandwich. I'd almost rather see the return of Wilson Needsabettermitt or Josh Fields than Teahen. Joe Crede is a back brace can move better than Teahen, who apparently has hands as soft as Stone (and we're not talking about Steve, either.)

It's been an exciting year, with lots of exciting twists and turns, but I think common sense tells us it's time to make those October tee times.  The off season will be interesting.  Will Paulie re-sign?  Will A.J. be asked back?  Will Jake recover from his devistating injury?  Will Omar come back (please come back, Omar.) Will Teahen be traded to an pony league team for a bag of balls?  The saddest thing about Teahen is that he's already played for Kansas City and they don't want him back.  That's usually the landfill where Kenny dumps his trash.

I hope Kenny has learned his lesson.  Players play for the Royals for a reason: Because they suck.  I cannot think of one Royals player Kenny has brought over that has helped the Sox.  Okay, maybe D.J. Carrasco.  But that's it.  McUseless sucked.  Pichardo sucked.  Teahen sucks.

I'm going to bypass the NFL for hockey and follow the surgically repaired Stanley Cup Champions.  At least until round one of the playoffs.
