College Football Saturday In Review (Week 2)
Here's our take on some of the games played today and tonight:
- Alabama 24 Penn State 3-My 86 year-old mother in law in Hueytown, AL (who is a HUGE football fan) said it best "They played well, but they didn't play like champions." Bama should crush Duke next week, but Arkansas is going to be a test of September 25. PSU has a good freshman QB in young Bolden, but he's not up to playing at an elite level yet.
- Ohio State 36 Miami 24-The Canes scored most of their points long after the horse left the barn. The question is can anyone in the Big Ten come close to OSU this year?
- Texas 34 Wyoming 7-The Horns started out slowly, but depth and talent prevailed.
- Nebraska 38 Idaho 17-Yeah, okay, whatever. It's not exactly Oklahoma.
- Oregon 48 Tennessee 13-A heavy downpour delayed this game for a while. Unfortunately for Tennessee, only one team came back on the field. There is no joy on Rocky Top this year.
- Florida 38 USF 13-These Gators are not quite as good as some the teams of the past. But they are good enough to win the SEC East. Say what you want about Tim Tebow, but he was the soul of the Florida offense. They lack leadership at this point.
- Oklahoma 47 FSU 17-Somewhere in Tuscaloosa, an octogenarian laughs his ass off. Be careful what you wish for, Jimbo!
- Wisconsin 27 SJSU 14-Bad game for Bucky. Not only did they struggle against a mediocre team, they also lost a key player to injury.
- James Madison 21 Va. Tech 16-You wonder whose program this loss is worse for: V Tech or Boise State. Frank Beemer's kids sure didn't do the Broncos any favors.
- Kansas 28 Georgia Tech 25-It's not like the cupboard was bare at Kansas. Turner Gill's squad rebounds nicely after a horrible loss last week.
- LSU 27 Vanderbilt 3-The Tigers take care of business, although Vandy is pretty awful.
- Michigan 28 Notre Dame 24-Denard Robinson is tough to stop and Notre Dame is easy to stop if Dayne Crist isn't in at Quarterback. Learn how to play defense anytime, Irish.
