Butkus D. Dogg's Friday Fearless Forecast Week Three
Boy, what a mediocre week I had last week finishing at only 5-5. So far, on the year, I'm 9-6 which, if it keeps up, is going to get me a one way ticket to the dog pound. The fat dog has already asked if he can have my food bowl. And my blanket. And my chew toy. What a tough week last week. Calvin Johnson doesn't finish his "process" and I lose a game. The Cowboys fumble and hold their way out of win against the Redskins and Georgia gets whipped by the Old Ball Coach. The biggest shocker was Michigan over Notre Dame, but it''s hard to win when the one good quarterback you have is seeing double. Or triple. And Joe Montana's kid? He's not his daddy. He's not even Jimmy Clausen.
Let's move forward, shall we? Please, I beg you. Five college, five pro, straight up and let's hope I stay out of the doghouse this week:
College
- Arkansas vs. Georgia: This is a big, early season SEC game for both of these teams. Another Georgia loss is sure to kill any chance they have of playing in the SEC title game not to mention greasing the skids for the exit of Mark Richt. Arkansas has a huge game next week at home against Alabama and may be looking past the Bulldogs. This one is almost too close to call, but I'm going to take the Hogs. Take Arkansas.
- Alabama vs. Duke: This is a classic trap game. Bama, coming off a big home win against Penn State and having Arkansas on the road next week may be looking past the Dukies. Nah, just kidding. This one will be a bloodbath. Take Alabama Big.
- Arizona State vs. Wisconsin: The Badgers have looked just okay in there two opening games and will be without a couple of key players. ASU has whipped up on lesser opponents as well. The key to the game is can Wisconsin's defense slow down the no huddle offense of Arizona. Chances are the answer is yes. Take Wisconsin
- Nebraska vs. Washington: Washington is one of those teams people are buzzing about. They are a pretty good team capable of upsetting good teams on any given day. This is one of those days. Take Washington
- Texas vs. Texas Tech: These two teams don't like each other, but Texas has way too much horsepower. Welcome to the Big 12, Tubbs. Take Texas
Pro
- Chicago vs. Dallas: A Bears team that got lucky last week runs into an angry swarm of Texas hornets this week. This may be a tough game to watch as neither one of these teams protects the rock particularly well. The only way the Bears pull this off is if it comes down to a field goal. But it won't be nearly that close. Take Dallas
- Buffalo vs. Green Bay: The Packers have some serious injuries that they need to figure out how to work around. Good thing they have the Bills to practice on. Take Green Bay
- Miami at Minnesota: Now that Brett Favre has four quarters under his belt, it should go a little smoother for him. Although if Percy Harvin is out again, Brett may again have limited choices. Still, the Vikings are better on both sides of the ball. Take Minnesota.
- Philadelphia vs. Detroit: I hate saying anything nice about Michael Vick (after all, I am a dog) but he looked very impressive last week. I think he'll run around and over the Lions who are still recovering from their loss last week. Take Philadelphia
- Pittsburgh vs. Tennessee: The Titans were solid last week and should be this week too against Dennis Dixon and the Steelers. The only way Pittsburgh wins is to stop Chris Johnson. It's doubtful that will happen. Take Tennessee
