Boom Goes The Dynamite: It's Time To Blow It All Up
When you are playing for your lives and you have three games to get back in the divisional race, it is not suggested you lose 8-0, then blow a seven run lead and lose 9-8 and finish it up with an 18-2 loss on national television. But if you do accomplish that in September and you haven't won a division title since 2008, it's tine to get out the dynamite and blow this sucka up. If I ran the White Sox, here's what I would have done last night and what my future plans would be:
- Kenny Williams is gone, replaced by Rick Hahn. If Kenny wants a reason, point to the stiff in centerfield or the logjam of overpriced contracts for under performing players. Kenny was a lot better when he would look for guys like Jermaine Dye and not guys like Alex Rios.
- Ozzie Guillen and Joey Cora wouldn't have gotten on the plane in Detroit. They would have been fired by the time they got to the airport. I would have flown Joe McEwen, the triple A manager to Minnesota to run the team on an interim basis.
- I would not re-sign Mark Buehrle no matter how much I love him. Enjoy pitching in the National League, #56.
- Gavin Floyd, John Danks, Matt Thornton and Carlos Quentin are now on the clock. What can I get for them?
- The jury is out between now and end of the season on Gordon Beckham. If he doesn't start hitting, he might also be on the block.
