Butkus D. Dogg's Friday Fearless Forecast (Week 3)

Hello again.  Last week I went 7-3 and for the year I am 10-5.  That's not spectacular, but it's okay.  Last week, I was disappointed by Mississippi State (who also lost last night) and by Notre Dame who coughed up a hairball against Michigan.  Holy cow!  I haven't seen anything choke that badly since the time the fat dog tried to eat an entire bratwurst without chewing first.  That will teach the bald guy to leave food on the end of the counter.

As always, five college, five pro, straight up.  Let's get to work:

College

  • Michigan State vs. Notre Dame:  The last time these two teams played, the Michigan State coach had a grabber.  I guarantee if Notre Dame loses this game, Brian Kelly may not only have one, but his head will explode.  I can't believe that I'm doing it again but take Notre Dame.
  • Auburn vs. Clemson: The way Auburn has played the last two weeks,it's hard to bet against them.  That's why I'm not.  Take Auburn.
  • Tennessee vs. Florida: This would have been a great game in 1998, but now, it's just another Gator trip to the bank.  Take Florida.
  • Stanford vs. Arizona: Stanford has Andrew Luck.  Arizona does not.  Case closed.  Take Stanford.
  • Oklahoma vs. Florida State: This is a big game in terms of the rankings.  Should Oklahoma lose, they will vacate the top slot in the country, most likely to LSU.  Florida State has a great chance for Jimbo Fisher to make the program his own.  In the end, Oklahoma has too much experience with big games and too much firepower.  Take Oklahoma.

Pro

  • Chicago vs. New Orleans: The Bears totally dominated the Falcons in all phases last Sunday and are playing for a lot more than just a win.  Brian Urlacher, the great Bears linebacker lost his mother this week and he's dedicating the game to her.  That's all the Saints need is a fired up #54.  Still, even without Marques Colston, the Saints have plenty of places to spread the offensive love.  The Bears can pressure Drew Brees, but he's got a quick release and can elude them.  While this game will be a lot closer than you might think, take New Orleans.
  • Green Bay vs. Carolina:  Cam Newton, meet Aaron Rodgers.  As Charlie Daniels once said "Now, sit back in that chair right there and let me show you how it's done." Take Green Bay.
  • Kansas City vs, Detroit: If the Lions can win on the road at Tampa and the Chiefs can get mauled at home by Buffalo, who do you think has a better chance in this one?  Take Detroit.
  • Tampa Bay vs. Minnesota: This one is almost too close to call.  The Bucs coughed one up against Detroit last week while the Vikings were spanked by San Diego.  The tough part of this one is which Donovan McNabb will show up?  The one who starred for the Eagles all those years or the one that stunk out the joint on the left coast last week?  I think it may be ride off into the sunset time for McNabb, but the crowd at the Rollerdome is worth a couple of points.  Still, I have no faith left in McNabb.  Take Tampa Bay.
  • San Diego vs. New England: Tom Brady was awesome Monday night against the Dolphins and even on short rest, there is no reason that he can't kick some more a** this Sunday.  San Diego is good, but playing at New England against a hot Brady is probably more than they can process. Take New England.
