Butkus D. Dogg's Friday Fearless Forecast (Week 4)

Hi there.  I'm a little late getting my picks in this week on account of the fact that someone (not me) left a gift for Mama on the carpet and we got a little extra cage time today.  But I'm free on my own dogcognizance now, so we''ll get underway.

Last week, I was 9-1, losing only on Auburn-Clemson.  So far on the year, I'm 19-6, which means I win three times more than I lose.  Not bad for a fifteen pound dog, huh?

As always, five college, five pro, straight up.  Let's hope I can get this done before the fat dog soils the rug again:

College:

  • Oklahoma State vs. Texas A&M: This is a battle of Big 12 teams, except the Big 12 only has 10 teams and soon only nine.  They also don't have a commissioner. Still, this is a pretty big game in this league, no matter how dysfunctional the league is.  It's almost a toss up.  Texas A&M will have a lound crowd at this one, but I don't have any confidence in A&M coach Mike Sherman coaching in a big game.  I'll take my chances with Mike Gundy.  Take Oklahoma State.
  • Alabama vs. Arkansas: Alabama proved they can win on the road in a hostile environment.  The question is can they score enough points to beat Arkansas and can they stop the Hogs from making big plays on offense?  Call me crazy, but I don't think so.  Take Arkansas.
  • LSU vs. West Virginia: Les Miles has his team playing well even without their starting quarterback.  This week should not be an exception.  Take LSU
  • Vanderbilt vs. South Carolina: Everybody loves it when a team like Vandy starts out 3-0.  Unfortunately, they won't be going undefeated this year.  Take South Carolina BIG.
  • Oklahoma vs. Missouri: Is this the best ABC can do on a Saturday night?  Really?  Wow. Most people will probably shut it off at halftime because Oklahoma is going to stomp the Tigers.  Take Oklahoma.

Pro

  • NY Giants vs. Philadelphia: This is a big game for two coaches who are both on the bubble. Even though Michael Vick may not play, the Eagles have the home field and a week to prepare without Vick.  This one could be close. Take the Eagles
  • Detroit vs. Minnesota: The Lions are a pretty good team, having blasted Kansas City last week.  This is a trap game for the Lions, who play at Dallas next week.  Still, I don't think the Vikings will give them much trouble.  Take Detroit.
  • Denver vs. Tennessee: This game is interesting because neither one of these teams are playoff material and both are rebuilding under new coaches. The bottom line here is that the Titans know how to control the ball and they will on Sunday.  Take Tennessee.
  • Green Bay vs. Chicago: If you are looking for me Sunday afternoon at 3:15, I will be under the futon to make sure I don't get hit by anything when the bald guy starts losing his mind.  Aaron Rodgers must be salivating knowing that the Bears secondary is all beat up.  If Rodgers can hit a couple quick ones early, this game will be in the bag by halftime.  Forget the rivalry and whatever, the Packers are a lot better than the Bears on offense.  They make things happen in the red zone, where the Bears are lucky if they get there.  Take Green Bay.
  • Pittsburgh vs. Indianapolis: I understand that there are some NBC executives on the ledge right now in anticipation of the ratings of this game.  It may not draw flies thanks to Peyton Manning being injured.  This is not going to be much of a game and Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth may be doing stand up by halftime.  Take Pittsburgh BIG
