Butkus D. Dogg's Friday Fearless Forecast (Week 11)

Hello again.  I'm coming off an 8-2 week which could have easily been 10-0 had I not picked Alabama and the Eagles, both who lost in close games.  No worries. I'm enjoying my best season ever and 72-25 and I'm not stopping now.

Mama is away and it's just the Fat Dog, the Bald Guy and me.  The Bald Guy is gone a lot and when he's here, he's either cleaning something, cooking something, locked in his man cave or yelling at us.  I think he misses Mama.  I miss Mama.  That's several hours of attention I don't get anymore.

Oh well.  That's why they invented walls, I guess.

Anyway, you know the drill.  Five college, five pro, straight up.  Before we make our picks, thanks to all our veterans for providing us with the freedom we enjoy.  Like the freedom to make awesome football picks:

College

  • Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech: There's a slight chance that Oklahoma State could stub their toe, but I doubt it.  Two weeks until Bedlam!  Take Oklahoma State.
  • Nebraska vs. Penn State: I'll refrain from comment on the big Penn State news and leave that to the Bald Guy.  That said, even if it hadn't happened, Penn State is a house of cards and Nebraska is going to topple them.  Sure, after the horrible, horrible week that Penn State has had, just playing a football game will be a great distraction for them and their fans.  Still, I don't know if they can possibly overcome what has happened.  Take Nebraska.
  • TCU vs. Boise State: This would have been a great game last year, maybe even a BCS game, but this is a rebuilding year for TCU.  This is a big game for Boise to prove their BCS worthiness, so you know they will be ready. Take Boise State
  • Auburn vs. Georgia: This is a big game for both teams, especially since Georgia controls it's destiny in the SEC East for the privilege of getting waxed by LSU in the SEC Championship game.  It seems like Mark Richt has righted the ship.  If he can keep players out of hedges, it should be a good day for the Dogs.  Take Georgia.
  • Alabama vs. Mississippi State: LSU made Alabama angry.  You won't like them when they're angry.  Take Alabama.
  • Pro

    • New Orleans vs. Atlanta: If the Saints are going to be a force in the playoffs, this is the game where they break out of their funk. They will.  Take New Orleans.
    • Pittsburgh vs. Cincinnati: The Steelers have been perhaps the best team in the conference the last few weeks, while the Bengals are suddenly causing a lot of buzz.  Still, the Bengals have been playing over their heads.  Take Pittsburgh.
    • New York Giants vs. San Francisco: At the beginning of the year, no one, and I mean no one, thought this game was a big deal.  But the Giants and Niners are playing very well and both look to be heading to the playoffs.  In fact, this could be a second round or championship game preview.  Eli Manning and Alex Smith are both hot right now, but I think the team that has been here before has the edge.  Take the Giants.
    • Detroit vs. Chicago: This is a huge game for the Bears, who, with a win will tie the Lions for second in the division and position themselves for a wildcard run.  The Lions are a bunch of mouthly jerks who trounced the Bears in their last meeting.  Since that time, the Bears have made adjustments to both their offense and defense and have had a couple of impressive wins. Take Chicago.
    • Minnesota vs. Green Bay: It wouldn't matter if the Vikings had two weeks off, in the words of M.C. Hammer, "can't touch this."  Take Green Bay
