Alright kids, here we go.  It's my annual pick of all 34 college bowl games.  I’m having a breakout year, so I expect to come close to running the table (yeah, right, just like I expect the Fat Dog to fly. He can't even jump on the bed anymore.)

I didn't comment too much on account of it hurts my paws to type so much, so just deal with it.  All games are picked straight up. 

New Mexico Bowl
Temple vs. Wyoming

This is the one that kicks it off.  Hopefully, if will be quick and painless.

Take Temple.
 

Potato Bowl
Ohio vs. Utah State

This used to be the Humanitarian Bowl, but even humanitarians need paying sponsors.

Take Utah State.

New Orleans Bowl
San Diego State vs. Louisiana-Lafayette

Well at least they got a trip to New Orleans out of it.

Take Louisiana-Lafayette.

Beef O’ Brady Bowl
FIU vs. Marshall

This used to be the St. Petersburg bowl until it got a beef injection.  Again, at least they got a trip to Tampa out of it.

Poinsettia Bowl
TCU vs. La. Tech

TCU upset Boise State this year and beat up Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl last year. This is quite the comedown for them.

 Las Vegas Bowl
Arizona State vs. Boise State

For the second consecutive year, Boise State has been relegated to an awful bowl game and has a huge chip on their shoulder.  They’ll show up despite their disappointment and do fine, even though ASU is an upgrade over last year’s opponent.  How does a team that fired their coach get to play in a bowl game anyway?

Hawaii Bowl
Nevada vs. Southern Miss

Southern Miss was impressive in their game against Houston.  Now they play Nevada.  Nevada is not Houston. Not even close.

AdvoCare V100 Independence Bowl
Missouri vs.North Carolina

Formerly the Weed Whacker Bowl, Both these teams had bad years.  If Missouri thought this year was tough, watt until next year when they play in the SEC.

Little Caesars Pizza Bowl
Western Michigan vs. Purdue

Another game that should be wiped off the map, a bad bowl about bad pizza.

Belk Bowl

Louisville vs. NC State

This used to be the Meineke Car Care Bowl. Now it is sponsored by retail store.  Could the Kohl’s Bowl be that far behind?

Military Bowl
Toledo vs. Air Force.

Another useless money grab.  Nothing can stop the U.S. Airforce.  Except maybe Toledo.

Holiday Bowl
Cal vs. Texas

I guarantee you, neither one of these teams wants to be here.  These are two teams who totally underperformed this year. This is a prime example of what’s wrong with these small bowl games…Flashy names and no substance.  If these teams were any good, they’d be playing with the big boys on New Year’s Day.

Champs Sports Bowl
Florida State vs. Notre Dame

This is the first game I actually circled (which is hard without opposable thumbs.)  Both teams are bummed they didn’t do better.

Washington  vs. Baylor

R.G. III will put on a show for the NFL scouts in attendance.

Pinstripe Bowl
Rutgers vs. Iowa State

New York in December, how lovely.  I hope the weather is better than last year when it rained all afternoon.

Music City Bowl
Mississippi State vs. Wake Forest

I don’t understand why Vanderbilt isn’t here, but we’ll have more on them later.  Both of these teams should have been much better this season, but weren’t. That’s usually how you get invited to this game.

Iowa vs. Oklahoma

After what happened at Bedlam, I would hate to be Iowa.

Texas A&M vs. Northwestern

The muffler bowl moves to Houston. What do Texas A&M and a thin person at a buffet have in common?  They can’t finish.

Georgia Tech vs. Utah

Yawn.

Liberty Bowl
Cincinnati vs. Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt must have really ticked someone off to get send to one of the dumpiest stadiums in the country instead of playing at home in Nashville.  That said, James Franklin has done a great job, but Vandy in a bowl game is scary.

Fight Hunger Bowl
Illinois vs. UCLA

How can two teams where BOTH coaches got fired be in a bowl game?  Does that tell you anything about how many lame bowl games there are?

Virginia vs. Auburn

This is certainly a comedown for Auburn, who was playing for the big trophy last year. Still, the SEC is tough in bowl games.

Houston vs. Penn State
I like this matchup, the Houston offense vs. the Penn State Defense.  Unfortunately the only place Penn State can score is in the shower (badda bing, badda boom

Michigan State vs. Georgia

This is where the Big Ten discovers just how much faster the SEC is.

Tostitos Fiesta Bowl

Stanford vs. Oklahoma

This is by far the best bowl match up outside of the championship game.  I wonder how much they had to bribe people for this one.

Kudos to Brady Holke for making Michigan a contender again.  They just don’t contend against the Hokies.

Another thing the BCS has done is force average teams into big profile games.  Like this matchup.  Will anyone actually watch this poor excuse for a game? For all the hoo-hah about the West Virginia coach’s temper, he still had a pretty good year.

Remember when the Cotton Bowl meant something?  Neither do I. This is a pretty good matchup, though. I think the Hogs want to prove something (like they are the third best team in the SEC West.)

This used to be the Pizza Bowl until the Pizza guy decided to stop delivering. Pitt is realing from Todd Graham sneaking out of town after a year, so I think their heads will be elsewhere.

Is this a bowl game or a division 1AA playoff game?

You’ve seen it all before. I think these two teams are both worthy of being a national champion, but I have more confidence in the LSU quarterbacks then I do the Alabama quarterbacks.  Both teams have depth at running back and wide receiver, but at QB, I think LSU has a decided edge.  I know Mama is going to be mad at me, but I have to be honest.
